“Every investment strategy should be based on research” is a famous quote by L.W.E. Rauwenhoff, one of Robeco’s founders. Our investment decisions are grounded in thorough research, and every investment framework we use is research-based. This research often takes place in consultation with clients. Through our research-driven approach, we aim to achieve the most attractive returns while balancing clients’ objectives for performance, risk, and sustainability—listening closely to their needs and tailoring outcomes to their goals.

Research allows us to build on our core strengths: Sustainable Investing, Quantitative Investing, Thematic Investing, Credits, and Emerging Markets. Throughout history, technological changes have influenced the accuracy and timeliness of investment decisions. Today’s technological advances—characterized by an explosion of data and increased computing power—form a strong foundation for Robeco’s research-driven approach. The wealth of information available today includes real-time insights from a wide range of sources, extending beyond traditional numerical data.

Asset managers contribute to a healthy and stable financial future for many Dutch citizens through transparent (product) solutions. 11.5 million Dutch people receive or invest their pensions through Dutch asset managers. On average, they have earned back their investments two to three times over the course of their pension. About one million Dutch people invest independently based on sound knowledge provided by asset managers. The average historical equity return (5.2% after inflation) helps preserve purchasing power. In this way, asset management supports and strengthens the Dutch society and economy.

Moreover, asset managers play a key role in accelerating sustainable transitions. They do so through selection, active ownership, and the development of innovative investment solutions.
